Methodology is not lifecycle

Make the call in this situation: "A prospect proudly says 'we're a mature SAFe shop across 12 teams.' What does this tell you - and what does it NOT tell you?" Explain what supports it.

Step 1 of 3

Scrum, Kanban and SAFeScaled Agile Framework. A framework for coordinating many agile teams at enterprise scale, common in regulated orgs. Press Enter for the full definition. are coordination layers.

They tell a team when to talk, how work flows and who aligns with whom. They stay deliberately silent on how you design a system, test it, release it and operate it. Confusing the two is the most common rookie mistake in enterprise discovery.

The methodology layer sits above the machine

diagram: methodology-vs-machine

Scrum/Kanban/SAFe set ceremonies and cadence on top; they never reach into Design → Build → Test → Release → Operate. Cursor lives in the machine - the stages every methodology leaves undefined. Probe the stages, not the ceremonies.
