The chronological / metrics deep-dive

Rebuild the sequence in "The chronological / metrics deep-dive" from memory, ending with the check that proves the outcome.

Step 1 of 2

A sales leader walks your career chronologically and probes each role for what you sold, to whom, the deal sizes, the cycle and why you left. They're pattern-matching for one thing: consistent quota attainment paired with rising deal complexity over time.

Structure the walk so the trajectory is obvious. Each role should sound harder than the last - bigger deals, more stakeholders, longer cycles, more technical buyers.

  1. 1Frame each role in one sentence. ‘At X I sold [product] to [buyer], deals around $Y over a Z-month cycle, attained N%.’
  2. 2Show the progression. Make each move read as a step up in complexity, not a lateral hop or an escape.
  3. 3Name why you left honestly. ‘I wanted bigger, more technical deals’ beats a vague or bitter reason.
  4. 4Hold one marquee deal in reserve. Be ready to go end-to-end on a single hard win when they ask.
  5. 5Land the dev-tools throughline. Wherever you sold to technical buyers, make it explicit - it's the credibility this role needs.
