What is The X Subscription?
The X SubscriptionThe subscription Cursor is sold through: one plan for Grok, Cursor and X, with Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers, per-seat Teams, a weekly included pool for Cursor models shared with Grok, and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit. Cursor's help page gives the short version and sends you to the SpaceXSI documentation, as it names it, for complete details.
The table below splits the subscription into the four things the overview describes. The overview does not go deeper than this on usage amounts or tier names.

Summary of the overview on Cursor Help: The X Subscription, checked October 17, 2026.
Nothing forces the move. Your current plan, price and features continue unless you change or cancel, and that holds for the people who never open the Unify option at all.
One more detail about the workspace is easy to skim past. People can belong to more than one workspace. The subscription, the bill, the usage and any top-ups are managed for the workspace, not for the person.

How does the shared weekly usage pool work?
Usage in Grok and usage in Cursor draw from the same included pool, and the pool is weekly. The overview gives no pool size or reset day.
Because one pool feeds both products, a heavy week in one leaves less for the other.
Third-party models in Cursor, like Claude or GPT, are not included in your plan. You can still use them in Cursor, billed at API list prices from the first use and paid from your prepaid credit.
- Included in the weekly pool: Grok and Cursor usage.
- Outside the pool: third-party models such as Claude or GPT.
- How third-party use is billed: at API list prices, from the first use.
- What it is paid from: your prepaid credit.
From the first use is the phrase to hold onto. Cursor points to a separate page on prepaid balance and automatic top-ups for how that credit is funded, and this overview does not describe those mechanics.
Who can switch to The X Subscription?
It depends on what you hold today. Individual and Team customers can switch on their own, Enterprise is handled through an account team, and new customers do not switch at all because they start on The X SubscriptionThe subscription Cursor is sold through: one plan for Grok, Cursor and X, with Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers, per-seat Teams, a weekly included pool for Cursor models shared with Grok, and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit. - Existing self-serve customers (Individual and Team plans): use the Unify option in Cursor or Grok. Start at cursor.com/unify if you are coming from Cursor, or accounts.x.ai/unify if you are coming from Grok or X.
- Enterprise: Cursor Enterprise customers without an active Grok account can switch with help from their account team. Other Enterprise accounts cannot switch yet.
- New customers: start on The X SubscriptionThe subscription Cursor is sold through: one plan for Grok, Cursor and X, with Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers, per-seat Teams, a weekly included pool for Cursor models shared with Grok, and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit. Enterprise is the narrow row. The condition is stated as an absence: the customer has no active Grok account. Other Enterprise accounts cannot switch yet, and the eligibility page the overview links to is where the finer cases live.
Staying put is also supported, and the overview is specific about it. Existing Cursor customers can still upgrade or downgrade between their current Cursor plans without switching, and existing teams can still add seats or change a seat's tier without switching. The exception is a plan billed through the Apple App Store, which needs to switch first before it can move between plans.
The overview closes with a list of related pages in the SpaceXSI documentation: team plans (workspaces, seats and invites), the prepaid balance and automatic top-ups, how to unify accounts, unification eligibility, what to do with more than one Cursor account, managing The X SubscriptionThe subscription Cursor is sold through: one plan for Grok, Cursor and X, with Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers, per-seat Teams, a weekly included pool for Cursor models shared with Grok, and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit. What happens when you switch?
Eligible Cursor and Grok accounts are combined under one subscription, one workspace and one bill. The switch is permanent: it cannot be undone, and Support cannot undo it for you.
A connected personal X account gets the X benefits. On a team plan, each member with a seat gets them by connecting their own personal X account, so the benefit follows each member's own X account.
Multiple Cursor accounts are the case that surprises people. If you have more than one, for example from using SuperGrok with Grok BotAn early AI teammate product from SpaceXAI and Cursor that works across apps on a persistent cloud computer and asks for approval on selected actions; launch materials describe it as beta, but Cursor says Beta Services terms do not apply. Press Enter for the full definition., you choose a primary Cursor account when you switch and your other Cursor accounts are combined into it. Cursor notes that adding more than one Cursor account is not available for every account, and it links a dedicated page for that situation.
The primary-account choice happens at the point of switching, and the overview describes no way to reverse the switch afterwards.
What happens to your old Cursor plans and subscriptions?
At checkout, the Cursor, SuperGrok and paid X Premium subscriptions you select are cancelled, and you get an automatic prorated refund for unused time. A new billing cycle starts on the day you switch.
The refund is automatic for the subscriptions Cursor can cancel itself. The exception is Cursor billed through the Apple App Store, which Cursor cannot cancel or refund.
If you pay for Cursor through the Apple App Store, cancel it in your iPhone or iPad Settings, or Apple keeps billing you. Request any refund from Apple. Cursor emails a reminder to cancel after you switch; if it is not in your inbox, check spam or junk.

For how refunds are calculated it points to the same page, so the overview itself will not tell you a dollar figure.
Put together, the subscriptions Cursor can cancel are cancelled for you at checkout, and the App Store ones are not.
The sequence the overview gives is short: the selected Cursor, SuperGrok and paid X Premium subscriptions are cancelled at checkout, an automatic prorated refund covers unused time, and a new billing cycle starts on the day you switch.
