Legacy Cursor Plans: What Still Works
Legacy Cursor plans are the plans Cursor sold before The X Subscription: Hobby, Start, Pro, Pro+, Ultra, and Teams with Standard and Premium seats. They keep working as they are, with the same price and features, until you change or cancel. New customers start on The X Subscription, and switching from a legacy plan is optional and permanent.

Prices and comparable tiers from Cursor's Legacy Cursor plans documentation, checked October 17, 2026.
Comparable means the closest tier, not an identical one. Cursor says each paid plan on The X SubscriptionThe subscription Cursor is sold through: one plan for Grok, Cursor and X, with Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers, per-seat Teams, a weekly included pool for Cursor models shared with Grok, and third-party models billed at API list price from prepaid credit. Press Enter for the full definition. includes at least twice as much coding usage with Cursor models as the legacy plan it replaces, and that it adds Grok and X benefits. It also drops the included third-party model allowance, which is now billed separately. Cursor's own advice on the page is to compare both before you switch.
The Start row carries a caveat. Pairing Start with Plus is an analogy only: when a paid Cursor account switches, the unify flow offers Premium and above. Pro, Pro+, Teams Standard and Teams Premium default to the tiers shown in the table.
One older generation sits behind all of this. Request-based plans, where usage was counted in requests rather than tokens, predate the legacy set, and Cursor documents them on a separate request-based pricing page.

How do usage pools and on-demand usage work on a legacy plan?
Legacy plans split included usage into two pools, and both reset with your monthly billing cycle. You can see both in your editor settings and on your usage dashboard at cursor.com/dashboard/usage.

On-demand usage is what lets you keep working after a pool runs out. It is billed monthly in arrears at the same per-model rates as included usage, with no change in quality or speed. Who gets it, and in what state, depends on the plan.

It is also a one-way door in one respect: Start can only be purchased while your account is on the free plan, so you cannot switch back to it from another paid plan.
Pro, Pro+ and Ultra differ in how much of each pool they include, with Pro+ and Ultra holding more than Pro. Fast mode and Grok effort levels are available on all three. Upgrades between them take effect immediately, and downgrades apply at the end of the billing period.
Legacy Teams seats come in two types. Standard ($40/user/mo) includes the standard Teams allowance of both pools, and Premium ($120/user/mo) includes five times the Standard allowance. Usage is allocated per seat, does not transfer between members, and resets with the team billing cycle. Existing teams can still add seats or change a seat's type without switching.

Switching is optional and permanent, and your legacy plan, price and features continue unless you change or cancel. If you do move, the list below is what Cursor documents as changing.
